Meaning leader - this  was the title/rank given to the British commander in chief of the Egyptian army in the 19th century

10. What in the Tudor and Stuarts time was known as a knitting cup?
(not multiple choice)
A bit of a tricky question here - a misleading darwing in a book led to the mistaken idea that there was a knitting cup at mediaeval marriage feasts. It is in fact, a phrase taken from Ben Jonson's play The Magnetic Lady  " mind the parson's pint, to engage him in the business, a knitting cup there must be". Hence the phrase means merely that a marriage is taking place.
