bioRe® organic yarns
bioRe® is a trademark of the Remei AG company which has been producing organic cotton under the strictest social and ecological conditions, for the last 16 years, being fully organic since 2008. The underlying principles of the company are sustainability, certified organic cultivation, fairness, quality and full transparency, there being no contradiction between being ethically responsible and generating profits.
With projects in India and Tanzania, Remei AG works with over 10,000 smallholdering cotton farmers to reform the entire cotton production chain, from cotton growers, spinning and dyeing mills and clothing factories. Remei works with its partners to ensure cotton growers get a fair price and works on improving working conditions for all involved in the production chain. Farmers' incomes increase considerably compared to conventional farming, there is no further damage to their health and soil fertility improves.
In 2002, Remei AG was awarded with the UN award for sustainable development partnership and since 2004, Remei AG is SA 8000 certified. The aim is to have all suppliers certified, some of them having already acheived this, whilst other are still working towards meeting the requirements of SA 8000. In meeting these requirments, the suppliers are audited regularly and must satisfy BSCI requirments.
Remei works with its partners and employees to develop at their own pace, while ensuring legal obligations are met and assisting with local infrastructure and know-how where required.
