Tension
For experienced knitters, if you have a yarn for which you searching for a pattern, and you know what tension it knits to (normally indicated on the yarn label), then you can filter on tension, so browse patterns which are with yarns which knit to that tension.
Note: both number of stitches and rows is important, as otherwise your finished garment may not turn out with the correct dimensions. Drape and stiffness of the finished fabric also affects the finished result. Take care when using alternate yarns, that your alternate yarn gives the same texture of the finished fabric as the original yarn given in the pattern to get the correct stiffness or drape of the original design.
Welcome to Project Search: search for patterns, yarns or just ideas.
Searching for all patterns in a particular yarn?
Simply look at the fibre content of your yarn and if it is eg 80% merino wool, 20% kid mohair ( i.e Rowan Cocoon), then select this option from the Yarn Content drop down box, and all patterns in the database for that yarn will come up.
New improved Project Search
We have recently added three new selection boxes on the Project Search, you can now select crochet only projects or knitting only projects by selecting from the Handcraft drop down box. Also the pattern source and knitting weight have been added, so you can search a particular pattern book e.g Rowan magazine 49 only patterns or search for 4ply only yarns. You choose.
